Ingredients

  • Donuts
  • 535 grams All-purpose flour

  • 55 grams White sugar

  • 250 grams Whole milk

  • 6 Tablespoons Butter

  • 3 grams Salt

  • 14 grams Active dry yeast

  • 2 Eggs

  • Vegetable oil

  • Classic Sugar Glaze
  • 180 grams Powdered sugar

  • 6 Tablespoons Whole milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract

  • Pink Strawberry Glaze
  • 180 grams Powdered sugar

  • 5 Tablespoons Whole milk

  • 1 teaspoon Strawberry extract

  • Rainbows sprinkles (optional)

  • Cinnamon Sugar
  • 1 cup White sugar

  • 1/4 cup Cinnamon

Directions

  • Donuts
  • Melt butter in the microwave and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Heat the milk in microwave until it reaches 110 degrees Fahrenheit (don’t go any warmer than this).
  • Combine the milk, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of white sugar and stir gently. Set aside so the yeast can bloom for 5-10 minutes.
  • Combine the flour and salt. When yeast mixture looks foamy, add to the flour/salt. Mix together with a fork until it all comes together into somewhat of a dough.
  • Using a stand mixer with dough hook attachment, mix everything for 7 minutes.
  • Form the dough into a smooth ball shape, and drop into a greased bowl. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside to rise for 1 hour.
  • Transfer dough to a floured surface and punch down. Then roll out until somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 inch thick. Use an approximately 3-inch round cookie cutter to cut circles out of the dough (you should be able to get 4-6 donuts). Then use a much smaller (approximately 1-inch) round cookie cutter to cut circles out of the center of each.
  • Set each donut and donut hole on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Loosely cover with greased plastic wrap, and allow to rise for 45 minutes.
  • Heat vegetable oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a large Dutch oven or deep-fryer. Then carefully set in a couple of the donuts. Let them fry on one side until lightly golden brown (usually less than a minute). Then gently turn the donut over and let the other side fry until lightly golden brown.
  • Transfer the cooked donuts to a wire rack while you finish cooking the rest of the frying (and donut holes).
  • The donuts are now ready to eat, or finish with your desired toppings/decorations.
  • Classic Sugar Glaze
  • Combine all ingredients and whisk together thoroughly.
  • Store in an air-tight container until ready to use.
  • Pink Strawberry Glaze
  • Combine all ingredients and whisk together thoroughly.
  • Store in an air-tight container until ready to use.
  • Optionally sprinkle glazed donut with rainbow sprinkles.
  • Cinnamon Sugar
  • Combine sugar and cinnamon and thoroughly mix together.
