Ingredients

  • Tater Tots
  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes

  • 1 Tablespoon All-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

  • Kosher salt

  • Vegetable Oil

  • Fresh parsley (optional)

  • Creamy BBQ Dipping Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoon Sour cream

  • 2 Tablespoon Mayonnaise

  • 4 Tablespoon BBQ Sauce

  • 2 dashes Hot sauce

Directions

  • Tater Tots
  • Fill a pot with cold water and a heavy pinch of Kosher salt. Peel the potatoes, and set them (uncut) into the pot of water. Place the pot over high heat until it comes to a boil, and then continue boiling for 7 minutes.
  • Remove potatoes from the water, and set aside to cool off. Once they’re cool enough to handle, shred them with a box grater.
  • Place potato shreds into a large bowl, and add the flour, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, 1 teaspoon Kosher salt, and 1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Form the potato mixture into individual tots.
  • Place formed tots on a parchment-lined baking sheet and put in the freezer until ready for frying.
  • Heat up vegetable oil in a Dutch oven or electric deep-fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Use enough oil that you can submerge several tater tots in it.
  • Carefully deep-fry the tots until a rich golden brown. Do small batches to avoid over-crowding the fryer pot. Each batch should only take 3-4 minutes to cook.
  • Transfer the cooked tots onto a wire rack, and sprinkle additional salt on them immediately.
  • Creamy BBQ Dipping Sauce
  • Combine all ingredients and thoroughly stir together. Refrigerate until ready to use.
